Overdraft fees: • Automatic Savings Transfer When your checking account doesn’t have sufficient funds, an automatic transfer from your Share Savings Account will take place to cover any items clearing your account. Monthly transfer limits from savings apply. • Overdraft Protection Line of Credit Save yourself the cost and embarrassment of overdraft (NSF) checks with an Overdraft Protection Line of Credit. Overdraft Protection is a line of credit loan with limits ranging from $500 up to $2,500. It protects your checking account from overdrafts and embarrassing NSF notices and fees. Protecting your account with Overdraft Line of Credit also protects your credit record by avoiding reporting of overdrafts. The Overdraft Line of Credit is a smart addition to any checking account so you can write yourself a small loan or cover expenses during an emergency. Apply online or ask for an application the next time you visit the credit union. • Courtesy Pay Service Courtesy Pay can save you the embarrassment and additional cost of bouncing checks. After all other overdraft options have been exhausted, instead of returning checks, ATM withdrawals, ACH items, and debit transactions unpaid, we may pay them for you automatically, up to a $750 Courtesy Pay limit. The non-sufficient funds (NSF) fee still applies but you’ll have no additional returned check charges at your retailer. When an item is paid through Courtesy Pay, you may be notified by mail that your account is negative and that the fee has been charged. We encourage you to cover the overdraft within 3-4 days as this is anticipated as a short-term situation. Any deposits made may be applied to any overdrawn balance first. Courtesy Pay is a service offered by the credit union and can be withdrawn at a member's request, or by the credit union at any time. (Only 1 response received)

Mortgages: The credit union offers fixed-rate 30, 20, 15, and 10 year mortgages, adjustable rate mortgages, interest only mortgages, and jumbo mortgages. (Jumbo mortgages are loan amounts greater than $417,000). We also offer financing on 1-4 family investment properties, 5, 10, or 15 year fixed-rate second mortgages and home equity line of credit loans. The credit union can originate mortgages within the state of Illinois. The credit union doesn’t service the first mortgages that we originate. (We do service our home equity loans.) We sell our mortgages to PHH Mortgage Services in Mt. Laurel, NJ. UIECU has had a successful business relationship with this reputable company for the past 10 years. You are entitled to a discount of $50 on your mortgage closing costs with an Illini Advantage or Advantage PLUS Account. We do NOT charge an origination fee. At this time the credit union does not provide FHA mortgages. However, we have low down payment programs that often allow a member to qualify for a conventional mortgage. Often times FHA loans have more fees associated with them. Therefore, borrowers need to compare the fees as well as down payment requirements to see which program is more beneficial for them. The credit union does currently offer VA mortgages for eligible veterans. VA mortgages offer veterans a no down payment option on qualified loans. (Only 1 response received)
